The Ministry of Finance announced on its social media page that the additional five billion birr budget has been submitted to the Council of Ministers and will be implemented directly after the approval of the House of Peoples' Representatives.

In addition to the government's budget, it is expected to receive financial support from development partners such as the World Bank, said Finance Minister Ahmed Shide at the first meeting of the National Reconciliation Secretariat Executive Committee chaired by the ministry.

During the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Rehabilitation Secretariat on December 26, 2014, the Minister said the rehabilitation program will be coordinated, programmed, accountable and aimed at finding a lasting solution.

22 Million People in Ethiopia Need Humanitarian Assistance

"I do not say that drones are not a reason for us to return to Tigray," said General Tsadqan

Members of the Executive Committee of the Reconciliation Secretariat have submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Finance to assess the damage caused by the war in northern Ethiopia and to conduct a financial assessment.

In addition to the victims of the war in northern Ethiopia, there are also suggestions that those displaced by the conflict in other regions should be included in the rehabilitation program, coordinated resource mobilization, regional participation, and the private sector as well as the diaspora.

The meeting was attended by Ministers of Education, Health, Planning and Development, Water and Energy, Industry, Women and Social Affairs, Labor and Skills, Urban and Infrastructure, as well as other relevant Federal Ministry officials.

The bloody war that broke out in Tigray and the Amhara and Afar regions at the end of October last year caused a massive humanitarian crisis.

Reports from human rights groups indicate that all parties to the Ethiopian civil war have committed serious human rights violations at various levels, including war crimes, international human rights law, and refugee law.

Efforts by the African Union, including the United States, and the African Union's High Representative for the Horn of Africa, Olusegun Obasanjo and other partners, to end the 13-month war have paid off.
